Enjoy a Japanese summer night in downtown Shizuoka
In Japan, a summer “beer garden” is an open-air venue where guests gather for cold drinks, barbecue and casual dining. Shizuoka’s 2026 lineup ranges from the garden of Fugetsuro, on the former residence site of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, to rooftops near Shizuoka Station, Ryogaecho and Shizuoka PARCO.
Hotel Abant Shizuoka is about a three-minute walk from the North Exit of JR Shizuoka Station. All four venues are within walking distance of the hotel, with outdoor walking times of approximately 3–10 minutes. On extremely hot or rainy days, or if you have luggage, a taxi may be more comfortable.

Choosing a beer garden
Can I visit without a reservation?
Fugetsu Beer Garden states that reservations are not required, although you may need to wait if it is full. Yumeji Rooftop requires an advance reservation. For AOI the BANQUET and Machisora, advance booking is recommended to secure your preferred date and time.
Are the venues open when it rains?
Fugetsuro plans to direct guests to indoor beer-hall seating. Yumeji may be able to move reservations indoors, depending on availability. AOI the BANQUET closes in severe weather, while Machisora closes in rain or severe weather. Please confirm same-day operations directly with the venue.
Can I bring children?
AOI the BANQUET and Machisora offer age-based pricing for children. Conditions differ by venue, and published information for Yumeji varies between pages. When booking, tell the venue the children’s ages and the number of guests, and ask it to confirm the conditions.
Can I walk there from the hotel?
All four venues are in central Shizuoka and within walking distance of Hotel Abant Shizuoka. Outdoor walking times are approximately 3–10 minutes, plus time inside the buildings and to reach the rooftops. On very hot days, please do not overexert yourself; taxis are also convenient in either direction.
Hotel Abant Shizuoka: about three minutes from JR Shizuoka Station’s North Exit
Hotel Abant Shizuoka is approximately a three-minute walk from the North Exit of JR Shizuoka Station. Its convenient location makes it easy to reach beer gardens around the station and Ryogaecho—and easy to return by foot or taxi after a summer evening out. We welcome both leisure and business travelers visiting Shizuoka.
